Design Trend: Image-Based
Some images are so powerful you don’t even need any typography. In fact, if it’s powerful enough, you might even be better off with no typography anyway; it tends to make the customer pick the album up to see which artist or band it is by. What you see above is an incredibly awesome shot taken during an uncooked egg was being squeezed in the fist of a females hand - if I saw that in the shop I would most defeinitely have to pick it up!

Design Trend: Grunge
This ones a little different to other grunge album covers; although it does use subtle noise in the background image, the main area of grunge comes from the rusty cassette tape. It’s so simple but it is an incredibly interesting cover.

The interview was terrific, not only because Stewart is so very good at hitting the tension-relief punchlines but because it gave Bahari 8 minutes to talk about this stuff. In a sea of coverage dominated by White House party crashers, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and the kids from Twilight, what happened in Iran back in June has receded somewhat from the headlines (though with end-of-year coverage, there has been a resurgence in that topic). In any case, we have it below and it is definitely worth a watch — especially for what the Iranian’s apparently think of New Jersey (hint: lots of sex, no Jews).

This graph captures the fastest rising query for each quarter of 2009, visualized over the entire year. To find the fastest rising query for each quarter, we looked at the most popular searches conducted every three months and ranked them based on how much their popularity increased compared to the previous quarter. Note how some queries maintain a moderate level of search volume over an extended period of time, whereas others peak sharply and suddenly.

White wrote and performed arguably some of the sexiest music of all time. Take 1974’s “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe.” The song begins with a long, passionate monologue before it’s suddenly transformed into a soaring ode to his lover. Where did he find the inspiration?
“The way he told it, he had just finished making love to his wife and walked in to the kitchen,” Perry says. “She went to sleep; he wrote a record, this song called ‘Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe.’ And that’s what it was written for: his wife, Glodean White. And she also happened to be the lead singer for his group, Love Unlimited.”
